What Are Side Effects of Baqsimi?

Common side effects of Baqsimi Nasal Powder include:

  • nausea,
  • vomiting,
  • headache,
  • upper respiratory tract irritation (i.e., runny nose, nasal discomfort, nasal congestion, cough, and nosebleed),
  • watery eyes,
  • eye redness,
  • sneezing, and
  • itchy nose, throat, and eyes

Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:

  • Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights;
  • Serious heart symptoms such as fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in your chest; shortness of breath; and sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, or passing out;
  • Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors.

Dosage for Baqsimi

The recommended dose of Baqsimi Nasal Powder is 3 mg administered as one pump spray of the intranasal device into one nostril.

What Drugs, Substances, or Supplements Interact with Baqsimi?

Baqsimi Nasal Powder may interact with beta-blockers, indomethacin, and warfarin. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use.

Baqsimi During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant before using Baqsimi Nasal Powder; it is not expected to harm a fetus. It is unknown if Baqsimi Nasal Powder passes into breast milk. Glucagon is a peptide and would be expected to be broken down to its constituent amino acids in an infant’s digestive tract and is therefore unlikely to cause harm to an exposed infant. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

 

 

HOW TO USE BAGSIMI UNDER 60 SECONDS

Welcome! Today we are going to show you how to use BAQSIMI in under 60 seconds. Make sure your caregivers, family, and friends know where you keep BAQSIMI and how to use it by sharing these instructions. They need to know how to use BAQSIMI before an emergency.

It’s important not to remove the shrink wrap or open the tube until ready to use. Set your timer. Let’s go!

Remove the shrink wrap by pulling on red stripe.

Open the lid and remove BAQSIMI from the tube. Caution: do not press the plunger until ready to give the dose.

Hold device between fingers and thumb. Do not push plunger yet.

Insert tip gently into one nostril until fingers touch the outside of the nose.

Push plunger firmly all the way in.

Dose is complete when the green line disappears.

Call for emergency medical help right away.

If the person is unconscious, turn the person on their side.

Throw away the used device and tube.

When they are able to safely swallow, give the person some juice to drink.

Then encourage the person to eat a snack, such as crackers with peanut butter, as soon as possible.

If the person does not respond after 15 minutes, another dose may be given if available.

Store BAQSIMI in places like your bag, home, or office.
