Description

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)

IPF causes the lung tissue to thicken, stiffen and scar over time. Scarring prevents oxygen from being transported in adequate quantities from the lungs into the bloodstream, causing breathing problems. Ofev helps reduce scarring and stiffening of the lungs.

Other chronic fibrosing interstitial lung diseases (ILD) with progressive phenotype

In addition to IPF, there are other diseases that cause thickening, stiffening and, over time, scarring of the lung tissue (pulmonary fibrosis) with gradual worsening (progressive phenotype). This includes diseases such as hypersensitivity lung, autoimmune ILD (e.g. ILD associated with rheumatoid arthritis), non-specific idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, unclassified idiopathic interstitial pneumonia and other ILDs. Ofev helps reduce scarring and stiffening of the lungs.

Systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD)

Systemic sclerosis, also known as scleroderma (SSc), is a rare chronic autoimmune disease that affects the connective tissue of different parts of the body. SSc causes fibrosis (scarring and stiffening) of the skin, lungs, and other internal organs. When the lungs are affected by fibrosis, it is called interstitial lung disease (ILD) and the pathology is called SSc-ILD. Fibrosis reduces the lungs’ ability to transport oxygen to the blood and reduces breathing capacity. Ofev helps reduce further scarring and stiffening of the lungs.
